Water-resistant Leather

Water-repellent leather is indicated for the manufacturing of professional footwear intended for occupational environments with excessive moisture. During the tanning process, the material receives various chemical products, including an additive based on special oils, which remain inside the fibers and help prevent water retention and the passage of liquids for a specified period.

This treatment preserves the natural characteristics of the hide and makes the leather 50% more resistant to tearing and rupture compared to conventional leather.

Safetline has its own tannery, where all the leathers used in its professional footwear are produced, expanding its technological capacity to develop materials with quality and durability. Among them is water-repellent leather, which features treatments for 4 and 12 hours of moisture resistance.

Despite this resistance, alternating pairs is recommended to allow adequate drying time. Water-repellent leather is also not indicated for activities where the footwear remains continuously submerged, as its moisture resistance occurs for a specified period.

The material also loses its water-repellent structure when it comes into contact with hydroxides, such as industrial soap, strong acids, and cement. Its use is indicated for low temperatures, as, when exposed to high temperatures, it may lose its breathability and flexibility characteristics.
